Together with UNESCO, MISA Tanzania and many other civil society organizations, we celebrated freedom of expression and the press in Dodoma and commemorated journalists who continue to be threatened and killed in the pursuit of their profession, including Tanzanian journalist Azory Gwanda who is still missing after being abducted from his home last year. According to the recent 2018 Global Press Freedom report, Tanzania ranks the position 93rd in 2018 from 83rd last year.

CSOs, journalist and editors associations made use of this occasion to share their views on the regulation of the media in Tanzania with the Minister for Information, Arts, Culture and Sports. FES Tanzania welcomes and supports continuous dialogue between all stakeholders on the situation of the media in the country.
