Internships

NOTE: FES Tanzania is currently not able to accept any applications. Please don’t send any documents until this notice has been removed.

We are generally prepared to offer university students internships at our FES Tanzania Office.

Prospective interns should meet the following requirements:

  • Have at least completed five semesters (Grundstudium) of his/her studies;
  • Major study in one of the following departments: Political Sci­ence, Social Science, Economics, Law, African Studies or related field;
  • Stay for at least three months at the FES Tanzania office and
  • Demonstrate keen interest in one of the working fields of FES Tanzania.

The ability to communicate in English is indispensable. The application should therefore include the following documents in English:

  • Curriculum vitae,
  • Motivation letter with mentioning of interests as well as ex­pectations regarding an internship
  • And a declaration of the duration of the internship.

Please be aware that the FES Tanzania is planning in a long-term, applica­tions should therefore reach our office at least nine months in front of the favored time of an internship.

The FES Tanzania is expecting motivated interns at our office. At the begin­ning of the internship a work plan will be developed. This work plan will be the foundation of the internship and shall include:

  • Preparation of a short paper in relevance to one current activity field of FES Tanzania.
  • Collaboration with one project officer in preparing a conference, workshop etc.
  • Assisting the office staff in performing the day-to-day business.

It must be stressed that the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung does not offer any mo­netary compensation for travel expenses (e.g. flight ticket, visa fees, etc.), does not accept any costs incurred by the applicant while in Tanzania and does not pay any honorarium during the internship period. All expenses including travel, board and accommodation remain the responsibility of the applicant. FES does not accept claims or responsibility for any accidents of and damages or losses to the intern as they may occur during the intern­ship.

The staff of FES Tanzania will only be able to assist the successful applicants in:

  • Obtaining the compulsory Residence Permit Class C,
  • Give advices for accommodation, flights etc.

Please take note, that since the 1st of July 2011 the fee for the Residence Permit Class C has changed. The current fee is 550 USD which can not be paid or refunded by FES Tanzania.

If you as applicant fulfill the requirements and accept the terms and condi­tions of an internship at the FES Tanzania Office, you should send your com­plete application via email to Andrea Cordes.
